Course Synopsis
This course focuses on the importance and purpose of SMEs highlighting how to carry out efficient and effective small and medium business activities. Students will learn how to select an SME sector, understand the different players involved in that sector, and comprehend the divergent nature of obstacles in the success of a business in that sector. Student will be well aware of different kind of issues related to policy making, development of feasibility and business plans, and interaction of different institutions of public or/and private sector. Students will also be able to know the rules and regulations for export business and to formulate and implement business and marketing strategies to compete in international market.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, you should be able to:
  • Describe the status and implication of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
  • Describe the entrepreneurial philosophy and entrepreneurial aim and could able to adjust itself in a suitable slot
  • Able to understand the different policies and could seek and utilize resources in best possible manner
  • Apply knowledge about working with human factors and its exceptionality in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (i.e. personnel issues, communication issues, organizational issues, and motivational activities)
  • Give an understanding of approaching its lenders and to manage the necessary functions for new venture
  • Understand and able to create a plan for new enterprise
  • Analyze the methods of planning, managing and manufacturing activities, the environment and the behavior of enterprises towards it
  • Propose behavior of enterprises towards competition, internal entrepreneurial behavior, the advisory networks available to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, and with the psychology of suppliers and customers
  • Assess the risks of conducting business and understanding the causes of enterprise failure
  • Would be able to understand the potential of Exports and possible threats from the emergence of WTO
